Classic Salads, LLC is pleased to announce that John Burge has joined the company as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. John will be responsible for expanding the organic and conventional salad programs in both the foodservice and retail channels across the country. Classic Salads specializes in the growing and processing of upscale baby leaf salads, such as spring mix, baby spinach, arugula and similar salad blends. These are available in either bags or clamshell trays under the Classic Salads brand or private labels.

John comes to Classic Salads from Taylor Fresh Foods, Inc. for the past 3 years, where he was responsible for starting the retail division of Taylor Farms, and most recently was Vice President of Cut Fruit Products. This included the 50/50 joint venture between Taylor Farms and Sunkist Growers to provide ready-to-eat packaged cut fruit products to the foodservice and retail markets under the Sunkist label.

A twenty-year veteran of the value added produce business; Burge began working with the Taylor family to help create the packaged salad category at Fresh Express in 1989, where he was Vice President of Sales for 5 years. He became the Vice President of Sales for Earthbound Farm in 1996, where he helped to establish the organic packaged salad category nationally for eleven years before returning to Taylor Fresh Foods.
